Peter
Viggers, MP for the Gosport constituency, has helped to mark
the half-way point in Bridgemary Community School's initiative
to achieve Sports College Status.
On
Friday, he attended the school to congratulate everyone involved
with reaching the £25,000 mark in the bid, and is pictured
with pupils (clockwise from top left) Patrick Brewer, Matt
Hills, Odette Nelson and Megan Westlake.
As
well as the £25,000 already in the bank, the school
has also received several thousand pounds' worth of additional
pledges, and organisers are confident of reaching their target.
Peter
said, "The efforts of everyone involved in the bid are
continuing, and it is good to see so much support from businesses
and from the local community. One local resident, Reg Coates,
is planning to call on every house in the Borough over the
next couple months, to try to persuade residents to give up
just a pound each for the cause. This is just one of the activities
that will be happening to ensure that Bridgemary reaches the
£50,000 target this year".
