MP
FOR THE Gosport constituency, Peter Viggers, responded this
week to the Government's Budget, warning that taxes were soaring
while public services were still failing.
Peter
said, "This Government has brought us more taxes, more
spending, more borrowing, more failed promises and still no
results. From this month, a typical couple on average full-time
earnings in the south east region will be paying approximately
£472 a year more in National Insurance and income tax.
At the same time, council tax bills are soaring across the
country - in Gosport, a Band D bill is now £139 more
this year.
"But
we have seen little in return for these higher taxes. There
are now more bureaucrats than beds in the NHS. One in four
children nationally leave primary school unable to read, write
and count properly, 39 crimes out of every 40 fail to lead
to a conviction. Labour have failed to deliver the improvements
in public services that we all want to see.
"It's
time for a fairer deal for our residents".
