Peter Viggers,
MP for the Gosport constituency, has called for Gosport’s
residents and community groups to have their say on new
Conservative proposals to improve the NHS,
by offering greater choice to patients and freeing doctors
and nurses from Whitehall red-tape.
He
said, “Conservatives want to put the patient first
by giving them real choice, and giving the doctors and
nurses freedom to do what they were trained to do, according
to
clinical priorities, rather than those of the Government.
In our area, we have significant problems in terms of waiting
lists for some procedures, and in the demands placed upon
local surgeries due to increased housing provision.
“
The Patient’s Passport offers all patients a deal
which will provide them with care in their place of choice,
with
free treatment for everyone at the NHS hospital of their
choice. It will also allow many more people to afford
treatment in voluntary and private hospitals if they choose.
“
The Patient’s Passport, and the proposals accompanying
it, will result in fairer and much improved healthcare,
and our proposals will offer choice to everyone, not
merely those
who can afford it.” |
