| MP for
the Gosport constituency, Peter Viggers, has asked the Deputy
Prime Minister to grant the Rowner housing estate in Gosport
eligibility for schemes for special support.
Following
his question in the House of Commons, he was advised
that the Government Office for the South East (GOSE)
was
currently working with Gosport’s Local Strategic
Partnership and Hampshire County Council to help resolve
key issues around
the Rowner estate. The partnership
is currently in its infancy and proposals are presently
being debated to tackle the
root causes of
the problems surrounding the estate. GOSE’s role
will be to provide advice to the Local Strategic Partnership
and
Hampshire County Council on any schemes that Rowner may
be eligible for. Peter said “Partnership and co-operation between all
parties with an interest in the Rowner estate is crucial
if we are to make progress in alleviating some of the problems
that residents face. I will be working with colleagues locally
to develop a plan of action which will enable us to address
the most pressing issues”. |
