Leading
the cross-examination of Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon today
during the House of Commons Defence Committee hearing, Peter
Viggers, Member of Parliament for Gosport and Vice Chairman
of the Committee, focussed on the issue of weapons of mass
destruction. He pointed out that Geoff Hoon knew that these
were battlefield weapons only. The Prime Minister told the
House of Commons yesterday that he did not know this.
Peter Viggers’ key
question was:
“As Secretary
of State for Defence did you feel any duty to ensure that
your Prime Minister was properly informed
before he took the country to war?”
