Peter
Viggers, MP for the Gosport constituency, will be going back
to the classroom on Friday morning this week, as he takes
part in ‘MPs back to School Day’.
The national event has been organised by the Global Campaign
for Education and is designed to raise awareness of the fact
that over 100 million children worldwide are missing an education.
Peter said, “In this country, we tend to take for
granted the fact that our children receive a formal education
from an early age. The Global Campaign highlights the fact
that more than 100 million children - most of them girls – don’t
go to school at all. 44 million of the world’s out-of-school
children live in Africa, 32 million live in South and West
Asia and 14 million live in East Asia. Education is a basic
human right and is the key to fighting poverty in the world,
and I am pleased to be supporting the ‘MPs in Schools
Day’ initiative.
Peter’s
itinerary is as follows:
9.15am - Assembly at Crofton Hammond Infant School, Mancroft Avenue,
Stubbington.
10.00am - Visit to the adjacent Crofton Hammond Junior School,
Stubbington.
11.00am - Back in the classroom at Gomer Infant School, Pyrford
Close, Gosport.
