Viggers, Conservative Member of Parliament for Gosport,
is Chairman of the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary
Assembly and in this capacity he co-chairs the NATO Russia
Parliamentary Group. Enclosed is the text of a letter he
has today sent to Mrs Lubov Sliska, who is Speaker of the
Russian State Duma and Head of the Russian Delegation to
the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

I write as your
Co-Chairman of the NATO Russia Parliamentary Group to express
the shock and distress that will be felt
by every Member at the sad and violent events at Beslan’s
No. 1 School.
No words can express the awful nature of the death and suffering
which has been imposed on so many innocent people. Our hearts
go out to those who have been bereaved, those who are suffering
and indeed to all the Russian people as they ponder the horror
that has been inflicted upon them.
Our thoughts are with you and your colleagues at this sad
time. |
