MP
FOR THE Gosport constituency, Peter Viggers, has this week
questioned the Secretary of State for Health about the ongoing
investigation into medical and nursing practices at the Gosport
War Memorial Hospital.
Mr Viggers asked when enquiries were expected to be concluded
and was told that the investigation by Hampshire Police is
ongoing and that to date, over 90 cases have been examined
by a panel of experts. Some of those cases have been identified
as needing closer scrutiny.
“The spokesman
for the Secretary of State added that the investigation
of the first four of these cases should
be concluded by September 2004, but it is likely that the
enquiry will stretch into 2005.
“I was also
reassured that every effort had been made to ensure that
the families and other interested parties
had been made aware of the timescales involved.” |
