Peter
Viggers, Member of Parliament for Gosport, has put down a
number of Written Questions for priority answer on Monday,
6th December in relation to the enquiry to be undertaken
by Sir Alan Budd. Peter Viggers explained today:
“The most
important question relates to the powers given to Sir Alan
Budd in carrying out his enquiry. It seems
from my own investigations that he has no special powers
at all and will rely on the goodwill of those to whom he
talks. It seems that he has no powers to demand papers or
to interview individuals. Put crudely, he will see what the
Home Office chooses to show him.”
