Peter
Viggers, Member of Parliament for Gosport, met with the Chairman
and Vice-Chairman (Mr. Tom Smith and Commander Raymond Hale)
on Sunday. They discussed the instruction by the Commission
on Patient and Public Involvement that the Forum should not
meet until 28 January. This would have meant that the Forum
would not have had a chance to comment on the local Primary
Care Trust's plans for hospitals in the area. Hampshire County
Council Scrutiny Committee will meet on 25 January and any
comment by the Forum would have been out of time.
Peter Viggers explained today:-
" I raised this issue through Parliamentary channels as a matter
of urgency. Magically, the problem has disappeared and the
Forum will now meet on 20 January."
Peter Viggers said today:-
" I am very pleased to have been able to help resolve this
problem. The Forum comprises local dedicated and worthy people
and it was absolutely wrong that they should have been prevented
from meeting and expressing their point of view." |
