Gosport’s
biggest employer and Gosport MP Peter Viggers came together
at the House of Commons today to present awards for innovation
in the health sector.
The GP Enterprise
award scheme, which is funded by Tyco Healthcare, rewards
primary care teams that find new ways
to solve health care delivery problems, introduce new efficiencies
or extra services, and can be replicated by other primary
care teams. This is the third year in which Tyco has sponsored
the scheme and is funding prizes to the tune of £25,000.
This year’s top award of £7,000 and a further
award of £3,000 went to Staffa Health in Alfreton,
Derbyshire, for a scheme which enables improved information
sharing of patients’ conditions among GPs. The awards
were presented by Kevin Barron MP, Chairman of the Commons’ Health
Select Committee.
Mr Viggers said
the award scheme was “an excellent
example” of collaboration between the NHS and the private
sector and that the innovations developed would have a beneficial
effect on healthcare delivery. |
