Peter
Viggers, MP for the Gosport constituency, has received
a large number of responses to the Department of Health’s
consultation on the provision of appliances such as dressings
and stoma care products.
The
DoH consultation has now closed but Peter has already written
to the Minister to emphasise the views of patients in the
local area.
He
said, “Many
local people who are very well served by the current arrangements
for the provision of these appliances have written to express
their concerns that any changes could adversely affect
the service they receive. In a large number of cases, the
people affected are patients with long-term health conditions,
and we need to make sure that any changes do not make life
harder.
“The Minister has assured me that the consultation
is intended to improve the service to patients and added
that the sentiments of all respondents have been passed
on to the consultation team for consideration.
“I
look forward with interest to the outcome of the consultation
and the implications of any changes for people affected
by them”. |
