On
Friday last week, Peter Viggers, MP for the Gosport constituency,
was delighted to open a brand new dental health facility
in Gosport - especially in the light of concerns he has
received from local residents about the lack of NHS dentists
in our area.
The
Trafalgar Dental Practice at Rowner Health Centre is part
of the SCA HealthCare social enterprise scheme. SCA is
committed to expanding access to NHS dentistry, particularly
in areas which are deprived of sufficient facilities. They
are aiming to provide quality NHS dentistry for all age
groups in an area which has been previously under served.
The facility houses two dental surgeries which open 5 days
a week from 8.30am - 5.30pm, and they currently see about
50 patients a day.
Peter
said, “Due
to the inability to access dental treatment in the past,
there is now a great need for remedial dentistry and oral
health promotion. Everyone knows how difficult it has become
to register with an NHS dentist locally and the situation
will take a long time to resolve itself. However, to have
a new facility such as this is a very welcome step in the
right direction.” |
