The
Chief of General Staff (General Sir Richard Dannatt) has
visited Selly Oak Hospital and praised the medical care
available in Birmingham. My comment is that no-one denies
that Selly Oak and Birmingham University Hospital can provide
good medical care.
What
we say is that there remains a place for a dedicated military
hospital which can support care in a military environment
and help recuperation.
It
is a tragedy and a mistake that the Ministry of Defence
is to withdraw from our only military hospital – the
Royal Hospital Haslar – on 31 March this year.
Is
it really too late to correct this error? |
