MP
for Gosport put down a Parliamentary Question about the
costs involved in the Government’s decision not to
equip the Typhoon with a gun, and their recent decision
to reverse this position and fit them in the Typhoon Euro-fighter
jet.
Peter
said, “In 2001, the Government decided
to take out the gun in the fighter, arguing that it was
not needed. Now, however, they have opted to reverse this
decision, and the guns are to be retro-ftted.
“I
have put down a Parliamentary Question , asking the Government
how much was saved in 2001 by the decision not to equip
the Typhoon with the Mauser 27mm cannon, and how much cost
is now being incurred by their change in policy, now deciding
that the guns should be retro-fitted to the aircraft.
“I
expect an answer on Tuesday next week and will be very
interested to hear the Government’s response”. |
