Peter Viggers MP for Gosport has now been told by QinetiQ that the goats at the Alverstoke physiological laboratory will now be found happy retirement homes now that their service has ended.
When the MOD announced that they would cease this line of work, Peter Viggers made representations on behalf of the goats which had previously been used for decompression tests. Peter Viggers was particularly interested in the experiments because he had himself experienced decompression tests as part of his training as a Royal Air Force pilot.
Peter Viggers commented today:
“I always stood up for the goats and their work when they were in service and I felt it only fair that they should be given retirement with dignity.
“An animal refuge named Buttercups at Maidstone in Kent is making appropriate arrangements.
“I am confident that they will enjoy their retirement as much as they enjoyed their period of service."
